Are you in search of Oculus Rift travel case? Want to travel somewhere, or maybe you are moving very often?
Getting a professional travel case is important if you want to protect your expensive hardware. Oculus Rift is in no way a frail product, but it can get unwanted scratches if protection is not well thought out. Recently I’ve moved to a new place, and I also was worried for a second whether my Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are going to be damaged- Luckily I found the original boxes for them in the attic, and used them for travelling.
If you aren’t as lucky to still have them, or if you are looking for something else, these are the ones that are highly rated and recommended by many.
Update 2018: Chanced some information to be highly accurate.
The best selling point for this travel case is its price. Usually, they are much more expensive. Just for 40 bucks, you’ll be able to fit in Oculus Rift with its headphones, Touch controllers, sensors, HDMI cables, padding…
The case itself is very small and weighs only around 1.6 pounds. If needed, it can even fit inside a laptop (Best Oculus Rift Laptops in 2018) case for even more convenient travel comfort. The only thing it doesn’t have is a protective foam inside that protects individual parts from each other. Everything is rather compact.
Right now, this is the number 1 recommendation is the most popular among users.
This Oculus Rift travel case has a little more protection inside of it. Since it has more padding and foam, it is a challenge to fit everything inside. If you have HTC Vive, it will fit in perfectly alongside every accessory, as long as the custom head strap is not included. That head strap is too fat and doesn’t let other parts in.
With Oculus Rift you’ll have to be a bit more creative. Unscrew the mount for sensors, place everything inside, and with Touch controllers, try to fit them inside the head strap, but be careful not to damage the display. Placing an Oculus Rift cover in-between would be ideal. That is the only thing you should keep in mind when buying this case – a small puzzle has to be solved.
Other than that, it’s one of the best travel cases out there. Very comfortable and sleek.
Not really a case per se, but since it was so good with lots of space, I decided to include it as my last recommendation. Trust me, there is so much trash out there, that it’s even downright embarrassing to review them. Some products on the internet only provided the foam, while making it appear that case is included. Others did not even fit Oculus Rift inside while marketing it as “made for Oculus Rift”.
This Navitech backpack has an unusually lot of space available. Even the Xbox Controller has its own slot. It includes side pockets if you need to take something extra. If you don’t have Touch controllers, they offer a backpack that is without those additional pockets, which also drags down the price by 25%.
Unless your back is occupied with something else, I definitely recommend getting this one for comfortable travel with Oculus Rift.
Good Oculus Rift travel cases are not easy to find, and luckily Navitech took it into their own hands to craft us something useful!
