About Skycall – Rook Island
Skycall – Rook Island has been made specifically for the Oculus Rift and the Razer Hydra (hand tracker) controller. If you do not have one of these hardwares, you are not able to play the game sadly.
The game is pretty straightforward. You play as an eagle. You will have an entire sandbox area to discover that has some specific landing points where you can test your fly-land and movement skills.
With the help of Hydra, the game can track the movement of your hands, and accordingly flap the wings in game. It sounds pretty simple, but trying to control the bird, and make it do whatever you have in mind, can sometimes be a huge challenge. Once you get the hang of the flying, you also have to deal with the exhaustion, as you’ll be flapping your hands quite furiously in some point of the game.
Nevertheless, it is a really fun experience for people to try, considering the fact that not many Oculus Rift games are like Skycall. Only problem is, that there is almost no information about this particular game. There is no official website, no Facebook or Twitter page, and all the download links given in other websites were with the broken page. It took me quite some time to find a working link.
So if you have the Razer Hydra in your disposal, I would recommend you to try this game out with the Oculus Rift. It can be a really fun insight into the world of birds, especially when you are gliding high up in the air, and looking around with your VR headset.
I would only advise you to be careful not to fall forward while standing up, or you’ll end up hurting yourself.
